Anything that changes a number, a recommendation or a factual claim is logged here with the date and the reason. We do not quietly edit and move on, because a reader who acted on the old version deserves to know it changed.
What gets logged#
- Corrections to any figure, constant, standard reference or unit
- Changes to a calculator model that alter its output
- Changes to a recommendation or a decision rule
- Removal of a claim we can no longer support
What does not get logged#
Typographical fixes, formatting, link maintenance, and rewriting for clarity where the meaning does not change. Routine reviews are marked by the "last reviewed" date on each page rather than as corrections.
How to report an error#
Write to corrections@campgearexperts.com with the page, the specific claim, and why you think it is wrong. Sources help but are not required: a clear description of the problem is enough for us to check it.
We aim to acknowledge reports within a few days. If a claim affects safety, particularly on the water treatment or stove pages, tell us and we will prioritise it.
Correction log#
No corrections have been issued yet. This site published its current set of guides and calculators in September 2026. When the first correction is made it will appear here, newest first, with the date, the page, what was wrong and what it now says.
We expect this list to grow. A site that publishes hundreds of specific numbers and never corrects one is not being careful, it is not checking.
Standing uncertainties#
Separately from errors, some things on this site are uncertain by nature and are flagged where they appear:
- Individual thermal comfort varies between people by more than several of the adjustments in our sleep system calculator. The model ranks fixes reliably and predicts absolute temperatures only roughly.
- Delivered stove efficiency is a band, not a constant. Our fuel calculator uses modelled ranges and tells you how to calibrate it against your own equipment.
- Cooler performance in our model ignores lid seal quality and drain plug losses, so the ice figure is a floor.
- Manufacturer specification ranges quoted across categories are compiled from published product data and shift as ranges are updated. They are used to describe what is typical, never to describe a specific product.
